What we call cha-no-yu is usually translated as the tea ceremony. Through the tea ceremony, a person enjoys time to himself or people gather to spend time together in a quiet tearoom while they enjoy a seasonal change of nature, which often becomes a topic of conversation over a cup of tea. The tea ceremony is a stylized performance, with prescribed etiquette, involved in the serving and drinking of powdered green tea. Different schools have different methods of performing the ceremony an different occasions and at different seasons.
