A formal announcement was made by the Ministry of Health and Welfare Disease Control Office on July 26, and for the time being (at this time, the cancellation date is undecided), the immigration restrictions will be continued to imposed. Following this decision, VISA applications, including new reservations, will continue to be suspended.

[Updated 7/13] Latest information on special entry permit (VISA) for "commercial" purposes

Regarding commercial and working visas, there was contact from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 9th.

"If the reason for visiting Taiwan is related to national construction and serious economic activities approved by the Taiwanese government, those who have been granted special entry to the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Central Epidemic Command Center) through the central government office of Taiwan You can apply for a special entry permit (VISA) and travel even during the entry restriction period of alert level 3. "

Not all travel for "commercial" purposes seems to be able to apply for a "special permit". Whether your reason for visiting Taiwan is related to a special project such as a "national construction important project" approved by the Taiwanese government, whether you can apply for a "special permit", necessary materials for the "special permit", application method, etc. We cannot answer about this. Please contact the relevant local government agencies such as the Ministry of Economic Affairs through the local hosts.

Based on this announcement, Ministry of Foreign Affairs will suspend the acceptance of various visa applications on the 17th.
Currently, those who hold a valid visitor visa or resident visa will not be able to enter Taiwan temporarily.

If you are a foreigner and need to visit Taiwan for urgent and serious reasons such as attending funerals of relatives or visiting relatives in critical condition, you must visit the Central Epidemic Command Center to get a permission before applying for a special entry visa at a Taiwanese diplomatic mission stationed in each country.

The current reservation date is as follows
Application in Tokyo: Visa application is not possible from May 19th to July 26th
Application in Yokohama: Approximately 6 weeks later * Emergency consultation is possible (surcharge)
Application in Osaka: No reservation required
Application in Fukuoka: the earliest from the next day
Application in Naha: No proxy (only the person himself)

Temporary visitor visa for stay in Taiwan within 45-90 days * Due to the new coronavirus, only single visas are accepted.

1. Original passport and 1 copy: 6 months or more remaining at the time of application

2. One general visa application form (requires the same signature as your passport)

3. 2 ID photos (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm, taken within 6 months before the application date)

4. Business certificate.
1) Work permit (Ministry of Labour)
* Inform details such as the applicant's name, passport number, and period of work permit in Taiwan.

2) If you do not have a work permit
* Updated 2021.1.27: Due to the new coronavirus, the period of stay will be 45 days or less (including 14 days of quarantine) in principle. In addition, the following documents (1) to (4) are required.
① Copy of the seal certificate of the Japanese company you work for
② Employment certificate and business trip certificate original issued by the Japanese company you work for (stamped with the same stamp as the seal certificate, within 3 months from the issue date)
③ Copy of Taiwanese company registration table is issued by Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs
④ Invitation letter is issued by a Taiwanese company and the original contract performance manual (with the same mark as the company registration table, within 3 months from the issue date)


Family invite between foreign nationals (Japanese) * Due to the new coronavirus, only single visas are accepted.

1. Original passport and 1 copy: 6 months or more remaining at the time of application

2. One general visa application form (requires the same signature as your passport)

4.Family register copy: Original and copy
(For the number of applicants + 1 for certification) Issued within the last 3 months and listing the marriage registration and the whole family.

5. Copy of proof of current address
(Example: driver's license, health insurance card, etc.)

6.Invitor’s passport: 0ne copy of A4 (page with photo)
Resident certificate of the invitor: One A4 copy on both sides

7.Ticket booking confirmation or e-ticket: One copy

Study abroad (university, master's, doctoral course)
Due to the new coronavirus, we are only accepting regular international students from universities and graduate schools who have already been granted entry permission from the Ministry of Education in Taiwan. After inquiring about whether or not the permit list is registered with the school, you will need the official text number and date of the Ministry of Education. (We cannot accept without the official text number)

2. One general visa application form (requires the same signature as your passport)

3. 2 ID photos (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm, taken within 6 months before the application date)
4. Original admission letter for the school you are studying and a copy of it

5. One health certificate and one copy of it.
◎ Items within 3 months of being inspected.
◎ The full name stamp of the hospital is required.
◎ Please use the prescribed form for the health certificate, making an inspection at a hospital designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the Executive Yuan or a Japanese hospital or clinic

6. Certificate of highest education (original and 2 copies)
Transcripts for all grades (original and 2 copies)
◎ If it is issued at a school other than Taiwan / Japan, please obtain the certification in advance at the local diplomatic mission in Taiwan.
◎ Not required for exchange study abroad
◎ If you need to certify your graduation certificate / transcript, please make sure that the graduation school is in the consular business jurisdiction of our representative office before submitting the certification application.

7. Bank or post office balance certificate (500,000 yen or more) 1 original
◎ Those with a seal or signature of the issuing institution and within 3 months from the issue date.
Please separately submit a copy of the family register / resident's card that shows the parent-child relationship when you submit proof of balance in the name of the parent.
◎ If you have received the "Taiwan Scholarship", please prepare the original scholarship certificate and one copy instead.
◎ Not required for exchange study abroad

8. One certificate of enrollment at the school you currently belong to (in the case of exchange study abroad)
