The Fuji Five Lakes [ KANTO ]

The Fuji Five Lakes Image

The Fuji Five Lakes region lies at the northern base of Mount Fuji about 1000 meters above sea level around the lakes Kawaguchiko, Saiko, Yamanakako, Shojiko and Motosuko. It is one of the best places to view Mount Fuji from a close distance and a good base for climbing the mountain. Mt. Fuji is the highest and most celebrated mountain in Japan. It is also considered to be one of the two most beautiful conical volcanoes in the world. In 2013 UNESCO described Mt. Fuji as “Fujisan, sacred place and source of artistic inspiration” when it has registered Mt. Fuji as the leading component in a World Cultural Heritage Site that included Sengen-jinja shrines, Oshi Lodging Houses, Fuji-ko Iseki remains, Oshino Hakkai springs, lava tree molds, the Fuji Five Lakes, the Shiraito no Taki waterfalls, and the Miho-no-Matsubara pine tree grove.
