Peace Memorial Park Image

The park was developed as a place of prayer for peace in Aug. 1955 under the Hiroshima Peace Memorial City Construction Law, at the northern end of the delta between the Motoyasu River and the Honkawa River near the hypocenter. The architectural master plan was laid out by Prof. Tange Kenzo. Covering some 40ha of ground, it embraces many monuments, from north to south as follows: Peace Clock Tower, Atomic Bomb Memorial Mound, Peace Bell, Children’s Peace Monument, Flame of Peace, Cenotaph for the Atomic Bomb Victims, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall and Peace Boulevard.
