Churaumi Aquarium, the largest aquarium in Japan and fourth largest in the world, is 80km north of Naha City. It is the most popular tourist spot in Okinawa among Japanese and foreign tourists alike. Okinawa Island is surrounded by a beautiful coral reef ocean that is not seen anywhere else in Japan, and the concept of this aquarium is the re-creation of the Okinawan ocean. Thus, all the sea creatures on exhibit are collected from the surrounding waters.
